It was the year 2016, on a Tuesday, when my life changed forever. I was in a church compound, burdened by the struggles at home, when Evelina the director of CC4C, approached me. she asked me why I wasn’t in school, and I opened up about our challenges. Being part of a family with three girls. my mother couldn’t afford school fees for all of us. Despite her best efforts, I had no hope of continuing my education.
Evelina listened intently and didn’t hesitate to act. she asked me to bring my school’s calling letter and requirements on Friday, accompanied with my mother. That moment was the beginning of my breakthrough. Evelina connected me to a donor named Nelly, who sponsored my education, covering my fees, pocket money and even transport expenses from Nairobi to Meru, where I was to school.
With their support I completed my high school in 2019 and performed well. I joined the Kenya Medical Training College to pursue a certificate course in Public Health. In 2023, I graduated and returned to work as an intern with the MAMA project, an opportunity that has been a blessing in my life.
Being part of the MAMA project team allows me to grow professionally and to give back to the community and help girls who face similar struggles. Living in kibera I have witnessed the challenges young girls face in informal settlements, and I am deeply committed to make a difference.
I am very grateful to Evelina for her unwavering support, mentorship, and guidance. She is my hero and role model. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all the donors whose acts of mercy have transformed lives. Your kindness is the reason I am where I am today.
I promise to always be a good ambassador of hope and to never let you down. May God bless the work of your hands and the source of your generosity. Thank you for giving me a chance to rise and for inspiring me to be a light of hope to others.
